Private Drivers

Your Driver, By the Hour.

Book a professional driver for a few hours, half a day, or a full day. Use them for meetings, shopping, sightseeing, real estate tours, or multi-stop errands. Driver stays with you the whole time — no Ubering between stops.

When a private driver makes sense

Hiring by the hour works better than Uber-ing between stops when you have multiple destinations, or need the driver to wait.

Business meetings

Multi-location day with no downtime. Driver waits at each stop so you’re not hunting rides between meetings.

Shopping days

Multi-mall runs, Costco bulk trips, outlet shopping. Driver helps with bags and parks while you shop.

Real estate tours

Touring 6-8 properties in a day with your agent. Driver knows the neighborhoods and shortcuts.

Sightseeing

For visitors: LA in a day, NYC neighborhoods, SF to Muir Woods. Driver doubles as a local guide.

Medical & elderly care

Multiple appointments, pharmacy runs, grocery trips. Same driver all day — less confusing for older family members.

Multi-stop errands

Airport pickup → hotel drop → groceries → home. Chaining trips into one hourly booking is cheaper than 3 separate rides.

Special events

Concerts, sports games, conferences. Pickup and drop-off at the same driver, often cheaper than Uber surge pricing.

Multi-city in a day

LA → Palm Springs → back. SF → Napa → back. SEA → Portland → back. One driver, one flat rate.

Typical bookings

Drivers set their own rates, but here’s what common durations look like.

Half-day (4 hours)

Common for multi-stop morning errands or afternoon shopping.

  • 3-4 stops in the same metro
  • Driver waits at each stop
  • Good for business + lunch runs

Full day (8 hours)

Most common hourly booking. Enough for a sightseeing tour or a long meeting day.

  • City tour + meals + hotel drop
  • 8-10 stops possible
  • Better rate per hour than half-day

Multi-day

For out-of-town visitors or multi-city trips over a weekend.

  • Driver available during agreed hours
  • Hotel pickup each morning
  • Negotiated per-day rate

Private driver FAQ

Common questions for hourly bookings.

Is there a minimum booking?
Most drivers have a 3-hour minimum for hourly bookings. Some will accept 2 hours for simple errands. Anything shorter, consider Local Rides instead.
Do I pay for the driver’s wait time?
Yes — with hourly booking, wait time is included. The clock runs from the pickup time until the agreed end time, regardless of how much you’re driving or stopped.
Can I extend the booking if we run over?
Usually yes, if the driver is available. Most drivers charge extra hours at the same rate if notified in advance. Agreement happens directly with the driver.
Does the driver pay for tolls, parking, fuel?
Fuel is typically included in the hourly rate. Tolls and parking are usually passed through to you at cost — confirm with the driver before booking.
Can I use the same driver for multiple days?
Yes — message the driver to arrange multi-day bookings. They may offer a discounted daily rate for 2+ days.
What vehicles are available?
Sedans (1-3 passengers), SUVs (4-6), minivans (6-7), Sprinter vans (10-14). Filter by vehicle type when posting your request.
